There are 16 four-year men's college basketball programs in the state of Nebraska. My goal is to see all of them play in their home gym.
Seven teams compete in the NCAA, with three in Division 1 (Creighton, Nebraska, & Omaha), three in Division 2 (Chadron State, Nebraska-Kearney, & Wayne State), and one in Division 3 (Nebraska Wesleyan). Seven compete in the NAIA, with one in Division 1 (Peru State) and six in Division 2 (Bellevue, Concordia, Doane, Hastings, Midland, College of St. Mary, & York). Additionally, one team competes in the NCCAA (Nebraska Christian) and one is unaffiliated with any governing association (Union College).
Here is my tentative plan for seeing all 16 teams:
Saturday, November 16 5:00 pm Nebraska Wesleyan vs. McMurry
Wednesday, November 20 7:30 pm Peru State vs. Missouri Valley
Tuesday, November 26 8:00 pm York vs. McPherson
Wednesday, December 4 8:00 pm Midland vs. Morningside
Monday, December 9 7:00 pm Union College vs. Kansas Christian College
Saturday, December 14 4:00 pm Hastings vs. Dordt
Sunday, December 15 3:00 pm Nebraska vs. Purdue
Saturday, January 4 5:30 pm Wayne State vs. Southwest Minnesota State
Tuesday, January 7 8:00 pm Creighton vs. Villanova
Saturday, January 11 4:00 pm Doane vs. Briar Cliff
Thursday, January 23 6:00 pm Nebraska Christian vs. Mount Marty
Friday, January 24 7:30 pm Bellevue vs. Viterbo
Wednesday, January 29 8:00 pm Concordia vs. Northwestern College
Wednesday, February 5 7:00 pm Omaha vs. North Dakota State
Saturday, February 8 4:00 pm Nebraska-Kearney vs. Newman
Saturday, February 22 7:30 pm Chadron State vs. New Mexico Highlands
I'm moving forward with the expectation that I will have to shuffle the schedule at some point. I think it's likely that there will be bad weather, I'll get sick, I have a conflict I don't remember, etc. at some point in the next three and a half months. Mostly, I'm just typing this out here so I have my schedule down somewhere other than an Excel file on my laptop.
I'll see how far I make it.
